The God is not just the consort of the Goddess. He is not the
supreme wrathful being of Judeo-Christian belief (ok, well he's not JUST
that being, depending on how you look at it). He is the
brilliantly shining sun, the tender of wild animals, and the Sky Father.
He is the fully-ripened harvest, the ruler of sex, the source of
mankind's future. His domain includes the lush green forest, the
towering mountains, and the distant stars.
As the Horned God, he shows his
connection with the animals of Nature, and is the ruler of the hunt (the
Goddess rules domestication of animals).
It is the God as the Sun that leads the cycle of growth and maturation
which leads to the harvest, and gives us the eight Sabbats to celebrate
him and the Goddess. He is present in the grain and corn, waving
in the breezes in fields, in apples shining on trees in orchards,
and in the plump grapes that are pressed into wine.
As the ruler of sex, he brings us pleasure, and gives us the urges which
ensure perpetuation of our species.
As Sky Father, he is bringer of rain and lightning, prompting growth of
plants and trees.
The God is symbolized in the
sword, wand, candle, spear, arrow, horns, trident, and knife, as well as
gold, brass, and ruby. The creatures sacred to Him include the
bull, stag, boar, falcon, shark, lizard, snake, fish, dragon, wolf,
eagle, and dog.
