Many a Pagan has opted for growing
their own herbs at home, rather than going out to the store and paying
commercial prices for quality herbs. As soon as that last frost
hits, and often before, many of us are out there tilling soil, pulling
weeds, and mixing in composts and manures. It's filthy, stinky,
rewarding work! There is much more satisfaction derived when
sitting out with a good iced peppermint tea, and being able to look over
at the pot of mint that you grew, and knowing that you grew that mint in
that tea from a tiny seedling.
For many who are starting a herb
garden, or for those who wish to plant something new this year, perhaps
something to plant as a backdrop to that gorgeous lavender, or something
to border that raised bed. Following is a table of herbs
indicating annual or perennial, height, and parts of the plant used, as
well as lists of herbs solely by size and by colour. Of course,
not forgetting those indoor gardeners, there is also a list of herbs
that grow well indoors.
